Pikes Peak Trolleys

September 16, 2021 @ 7:00 pm - 8:30 pm

The Colorado Springs area had a streetcar system that was one of the best to be found anywhere. This presentation will cover this history of streetcar service, how it affected the lives of residents, and what became of it.

The presenter, John Haney, is a Colorado Springs native whose family has been in the Pikes Peak area since the 1890s. A Master’s Degree in Urban Planning from the University of Arizona has helped him have a vision of how Colorado Springs could become a better city using streetcars. He has co-authored three books on streetcar histories, and in the 1980s he helped found what is now the Pikes Peak Trolley Museum and Restoration Shop.

He will also review what is going on presently in the trolley world and what we might imagine for the future.
