A History of the Monument Preserve – from CCC to Recreation Area

July 17, 2021 @ 10:00 am - 12:00 pm

Join us for a walking tour with Bill Normile of the Friends of the Monument Preserve as we explore the Monument preserve and learn its fascinating history.

Begun unsuccessfully on Pikes Peak, the Monument Tree Nursery (located just west of the town of Monument) ended up successfully producing over 72 million tree seedlings between 1906 and 1964. It was one of the first in the forest system and the most important in the Rocky Mountains.

This event is limited to 30 participants, so please email us at plhspresident@gmail.com with the number of people in your group to reserve a space and receive details about the meeting place for this event.
