Chautauqua Assemblies in Palmer Lake

Read about Chautaugua here in Palmer Lake. Lucretia Vaile participated in many Chautauguas when her family summered in Palmer Lake. Lazy summer days spent learning prompted Lucretia to become a librarian in Denver. Lucretia generously donated money to be used for the Palmer Lake Library and the History Society museum.

Long-time PLHS member, museum docent, and author, Dan Edwards has gleaned news snippets from various newspapers that have now been digitized.

The newspapers researched reach back to the late 1800’s. All spellings, punctuation, and phrasing are taken verbatim from the source material.
